To Ανώτατο Ακυρωτικό Δικαστήριο της Ιταλίας καταργεί τις λέξεις «μητέρα» και «πατέρας» στα ιταλικά δελτία ταυτότητας.
Με απόφασή του στις 9 Απριλίου 2025 το Δικαστήριο απέρριψε την προσφυγή του Υπουργείο Εσωτερικών με το αιτιολογικό ότι η χρήση των όρων «πατέρας» και «μητέρα» αποτελεί «διάκριση εις βάρος των ζευγαριών του ιδίου φύλου».
Το ιταλικό Δικαστήριο προέκρινε τη χρήση του ουδέτερου όρου «γονέας» ώστε να μην γίνεται αναφορά στο βιολογικό φύλο.
